Links of awesome

Big, big thanks to all of my reader girlies who are reviewing Triple Fault–thank you! The reviews, especially at Barnes and Noble, are so much fun and I heart you guys! I can’t say enough how much I appreciate it. Also, I owe MANY of you e-mails and since I’m going out of town next week, it might take me a little longer to e-mail back. But I will! 🙂

Got a couple of links to share:

The fab and supercool Mara at Whitebook Farm reviewed Behind the Bit. Thank you, Mara!

Terra is an extremely nice person and I’ve been talking to about the Decatur Book Festival. She did a blog post about Canterwood. Terra is also from Little Shop of Stories–so go check out her bookstore.

Happy Wednesday!

Behind the Bit is out!

BEHIND THE BIT, Canterwood Crest #3, went in stock on Amazon yesterday and at Barnes & Noble. I’m beyond excited to have three books out. Now that I’m in a new place, I have to go introduce myself to the staff at the local B&N and sign some stock. That’ll be fun! I love that I can walk there–it’s quite awesome.

I’m super busy finishing up edits on BEST ENEMIES (CC #5) and it’s my goal to have them done on Monday. I’ve been trying this new waking up at the most evil hour of 5am thing and it doesn’t suck. Too much. 🙂 I complain and grumble, but once I’m up I’m okay. I *do* get a lot done. And that’s I prob won’t be able to keep it up for long, but I’ll try it.

This weekend, I’m meeting up with two friends. One for brunch on Sunday at French Roast (sounds sooo yummy) and one for coffee here in my neighborhood. I’ll also be taking progress pics of the apartment and will post them. It’s getting pretty sparkly in here! Next thing: wall decorations. I’ve got links to some awesome posters, so this weekend I’ll measure, decide on some and order them. Very exciting.

Cable/DVR and Internet was installed yesterday (yay!) so I’m back online. Awesomeness. I was getting WiFi whereever I could: cafes, apt buildings…an old folk’s home. Yeah, shameless, I know. 🙂

Anyway, happy book birthday to BEHIND THE BIT!! 🙂 Cheers!

Here’s the blurb from Amazon:

It’s midwinter break and Sasha Silver has been invited to attend an exclusive equestrian clinic. Problem is, Callie, Heather, Alison, and Julia have also been invited. And after the way things ended at Canterwood’s Sweetheart Soiree, the line between friend and frenemy is thinner than ever.

Enter to win a signed copy of Behind the Bit!

Sooo, BEHIND THE BIT comes out on May 19. I can’t believe it’s my third book. Insane. TAKE THE REINS and CHASING BLUE released over a week early, so you might be seeing BTB on shelves soon. To celebrate, I’m giving away a signed copy of BTB. Want to win? Leave a comment here ONLY–not LiveJournal this time (because I have limited Internet access and am posting this on a timer)–and you’ll be entered.

Spread the word, too! 🙂 You have until Wednesday at midnight to leave your comment. I’ll randomly draw a winner and will email you if you’ve won.

Good luck!

Sneaky Alison

A final copy of BEHIND THE BIT (May 19, 2009)!!! Yaaaay! My favorite part is the expression on Alison’s face on the back cover. She’s totally up to something…oh, snap.

Again, sparkles must be bestowed upon Kate Angelella, Jessica Handelman, Monica Stevenson & crew and everyone at Aladdin MIX (only the coolest, best imprint ever) who worked on BEHIND THE BIT. Thank you all for working so hard on my books! And I’ve told EK a million times, but it’s worth repeating, she’s seriously brilliant. She comes up with the coolest tag lines that are beyond perfect for the books.

Holding a finished copy of my third (OMG) book is no less exciting than when I got copies of TAKE THE REINS. It’s the most intense/wow/amazing feeling to see the finished book.

Happy sigh. 🙂

PJ Hoover giveaway winners!

We have two winners in PJ Hoover’s giveaway!

Cyndi and The Not So Closet Geeks

Yay! Please e-mail me at jessica [at] jessicaburkhart [dot] com by Wednesday afternoon with your address. I’ll pass that to PJ and you’ll get your prize!

Congratulations to the winners and thank you to PJ for stopping by. PJ, you were a lovely guest and please come back!

I’m in crazy editing mode and am making progress on BEHIND THE BIT. When I get in this obsessive mode, I stop reading. I just got a great pile of books (Valiant, The Gargoyle, Rumors) and am so wiped out from my own editing that I just don’t feel like reading. I read zero pages over the weekend–I think that’s a first!

That said, the manuscript progress is exciting and I had a fab weekend!

Good luck NaNoing friends! Anyone got a word count that they want to share? The site has been soooo slow, so I haven’t even listened to Chris’s latest WriMoRadio yet. Off to try it now…

Fast drafting Behind the Bit

I’m in crazy-drafting stage right now! I started writing the third Canterwood Crest book, BEHIND THE BIT, and it’s such a fun book to write! Horses! Boy drama! Friendship issues! I love this stage. I get into fast-drafting and try to get everything down and revise later.

I’m about 32 pages in and am going strong. Last week, though, my carpal tunnel came back with a vengeance. It made me contemplate removing my arm. Veeerrry intense pain in my elbow and wrist. Of course, it HAD to be in my right hand. Nothing worked. Not my brace, hot/cold wrap, massive doses of Aleve or an arm rest.

Ugh.

I typed with my left hand for a couple of days before deciding that was a total waste. I went to my local Office Max and picked up Dragon Naturally Speaking. Yeah, I was quite skeptical that it wouldn’t work. Well…guess what? It’s AWESOME. It took half an hour to set up and do voice training, but now I’m using it almost more than I type. It ROCKS. Now, I can talk if I can’t type. Super sweet.

So, what’s everyone working on?

PS- Congrats to Kelly Parra on her INVISIBLE TOUCH release day!!
