Two bits of press

First, I wanted to say THANK YOU so much to everyone who has been emailing, Facebooking, Tweeting, etc at me about BEST ENEMIES. You guys absolutely rock and I’ve been reading every message, but am this close to finishing HOME SWEET DRAMA, so I can’t reply to email right now. I will when I turn in the final draft and have a couple of days to reply.

There were two pieces of press that ran last week about my involvement in NaNoWriMo or National Novel Writing Month. First, I was interviewed for Media Bistro and my article is part of a toolkit for people participating in this month’s contest. You can see some of the article here and thanks to GalleyCat for featuring it.

Then, the SFist picked up the article and a columnist wrote about it. The article made me laugh because he said my NaNo tale was “inspiring/annoying.” LOL. I can see that…

Back to revising!

Blog post up at Girlz Like Me

I was lucky enough to be interviewed by the fab and supercool Taylor and her sister Allie. Taylor is a 12-year old homeschooler who started an online magazine. I’m so impressed by her and the site is so cool. Here’s a link to the blog post and I’ll be sure to post another link when my interview and shout out vlog go up. 🙂 Taylor posted a blog entry about our interview and included a few cool pics.

Thanks so much to everyone at Girlz Like Me!

I’m still at my friends’ apt on a writing spree. I got a superlate start (2:30something) and it took forever before I hit my stride. But words are accumulating now and I’m going to see how much longer I can keep it up. The Thai food, Red Bull, Diet Coke, coffee, and Twizzler (thanks, AlyCat!) helped. 🙂

HorseGirlTV–yay!

When I got an e-mail from Angelea Walkup, I was sooo excited! Angelea is the host of HorseGirlTV and it’s one of the coolest, most innovative programs for people who love horses.

To explain about HorseGirlTV, I’m borrowing this directly from Angelea’s Website:

var s0 = new SWFObject(“http://www.horsegirltv.com/blog/wp-content/plugins/flash-video-player/mediaplayer/player.swf”,”n0″,”640″,”364″,”7″); s0.addParam(“allowfullscreen”,”true”); s0.addParam(“allowscriptaccess”,”always”); s0.addParam(“wmode”,”opaque”); s0.addVariable(“id”,”n0″); s0.addVariable(“controlbar”,”bottom”); s0.addVariable(“height”,”364″); s0.addVariable(“playlist”,”none”); s0.addVariable(“skin”,”http://www.horsegirltv.com/blog/wp-content/plugins/flash-video-player/skins/simple/simple.swf”); s0.addVariable(“width”,”640″); s0.addVariable(“autostart”,”false”); s0.addVariable(“bufferlength”,”1″); s0.addVariable(“displayclick”,”play”); s0.addVariable(“icons”,”true”); s0.addVariable(“linktarget”,”_blank”); s0.addVariable(“mute”,”false”); s0.addVariable(“quality”,”true”); s0.addVariable(“repeat”,”none”); s0.addVariable(“resizing”,”true”); s0.addVariable(“shuffle”,”false”); s0.addVariable(“stretching”,”exactfit”); s0.addVariable(“volume”,”90″); s0.addVariable(“file”,”http://horsegirltv.com/episodes/ep48.flv”); s0.write(“video0”HorseGirlTV® is a forward thinking online series focusing on the positive aspects of the equine industry.

About Our Host
As a life long equestrian, Angelea (HorseGirlTV’s CEO or Chief Equine Officer!) has not only ridden and trained but she has successfully competed in Dressage through Grand Prix earning both her USDF Silver and Gold Medals. Angelea’s post university career found her behind an illuminated computer screen working in Internet technologies with online communities. She turned in her full-time keyboard with her companies successful acquisition by a major Internet brand and is now focusing her energies on maximizing the emerging world of new media for horse lovers.

I’ve been a fan of the show for a while and am thrilled that Angelea has asked me to come on and talk about my journey from rider to writer. I’m going to her farm in North Carolina in August to shoot and I’ll be vlogging from there. 🙂 We’ll probably *both* be vlogging, LOL, since Angelea is as into technology as I am.

When the show airs, it’ll be available online and as an iPod download, which is super cool. I’ll be sure to let everyone know when we get an airdate.

Thanks in advance to Angelea and yay for HorseGirlTV! 🙂

Profiled in Tallahassee Magazine

Tallahassee Magazine published an article about Canterwood and it just hit stands! They also printed the article online and you can check it out here. Scroll below the other author featured for writing tips and my then-reading list.

Thanks, Scott and Jennifer! 🙂

WCTV video! :)

I have video! 🙂 I watched it this morning with one eye covered…I hate watching myself on TV, LOL. It’s weird.

I’m off to my school visit at Roberts in a little while. We’re under a tornado watch because there’s a tornado on the ground not far from here. So, I might be doing the tornado drill in the hallway with the kids. Eek! 🙂 The sky’s that gross yellowish gray. And that’s why I’ll be leaving early.

Hope you all enjoy the video! I’ll have pics to share when I get back from today’s visit.

WCTV 6 taping–so fun!

(This is the dress I wore to my WCTV taping. BC, you like? It was early and I was just like, “Take the picture, already!”)

I wanted a pic of the dress since I think the cameras were aimed at the waist up.

Anyway, the taping for The Good Morning Show was so much fun! Three minutes goes by super fast especially considering how long my last TV appearance lasted. The segment will air on channel 6.2 on Friday morning at 7am. It was also be online. I’ll get a link posted on Friday. Yay!

Thank you, Shonda Knight! 🙂

Going to tape WCTV’s (CBS 6) The Good Morning Show

The sign! Obvi…

The Tallahassee studio for WCTV CBS channel 6.

70 copies of TTR that I signed for Roberts Elementary School.

First, those are the books I was given to sign for my next school visit on Friday. Thanks so much to Erma for helping me set this up. I had a blast signing the books and I will bring them to school on Friday, even though I’m tempted to fill up my bookcase with those copies. Hee.

Tomorrow, I’m going to my local CBS station to tape The Good Morning Show. It will air Friday morning at 7am. I’m a little nervous, but I looove doing TV stuff. I’ve been watching the DVD back of my appearance on Perspectives and I picked out my favorite words (“absolutely” and “so”) and made notes of gestures, expressions, etc that were weird and/or distracting. It’s pretty cool, actually, to have that 30 min appearance on DVD ’cause it’s like a demo reel.

She (Shonda Knight) is supposed to conduct the interview. Kind of exciting to meet someone you see on TV almost every day. 🙂

I already chose my outfit. I’ll take a pic of it tomorrow. It was easy to choose because of the no red, green, white or pattern rule. My taping is at 9am. Fingers crossed!
