The Most Random of All

So I’ve been in my new apartment for about a week and a half. I love it! More important–Bliss, Bella and Khaleesi love it! They are total sun bunnies. I have to buy baby sunscreen for Bella because her skin is so fair. 🙂

I’ve been brainstorming, looking at Pinterest, reading magazines, etc. with ideas for how to make an awesome patio. I posted before about my “dream patio” and that’s changed a little. Especially since I am starting to get stuff piece by piece. Next paycheck I’ll be able to get more stuff.

One thing I def want? A POOL! I have to check and see if there is even a hose on either patio, but I would looove to get a kiddie pool for the summer. This one about is my dream pool at $99 from WalMart.

I definitely want to get outdoor trees. Plants too, but none that attract bees or wasps! (So scared of those!)

This no trees needed lounger on eBay is awesome! —>ImageImageThese are solar powered lights from IKEA via eBay. I have two sets and LOVE them!

ImageThe pink side table is fold-up style and super cute! I got the blue chair from eBay. Love it! The other table is going to be painted (not the glass top just the wood!), I just have to decide whether it will be yellow, pink, blue, or teal. 🙂 Those are paints I have from Home Depot.

Image I got two of these solar powered lights from Target. There are about 6 by 6 inches big.

ImageI took this shot from my bed. 🙂 The patio on the other side is the same size!

My landlord left this beautiful iron table for me to use. I put these wicker place mats on it. I would love to get an umbrella for it soon. That’s on my list.   Image

I also want to get mesh lights and drape them from my sliding glass door to the opposite side of the patio. So it would be a net of lights that hang over you when you’re on the patio.

Like these! Image They are just under $30 on eBay.

That’s my progress and my ideas as of now. They change. A lot. 😀

I am still 1/4 left unpacked. I am in a lot of pain in my elbow and back from moving. I need to save my arm for writing Unicorn Magic #4 and wear it out unpacking. So, because of that, I have “professional organizers” coming on Friday. They are going to unpack, hang up all my clothes, organize the apartment, etc. VERY excited about this! I am so Type A that the mess is making me nuts.

Oooh! I heard from my editor and she is sending copies of TAKE THE REINS from Brazil! I am so excited–I cannot wait to see those!!

What would you put on your patio if you had one? Or, what’s on your balcony?

I love getting ideas and seeing what other people have done.

One more thing: thanks to Bri, I’ve got a photo account on FOAP. Now, I’ll be able to upload my photos and have a portfolio of my work to be accessible by potential buyers. It’s so exciting! I have 9 pics up now and whenever I am taking a break, I upload another.

Hope everyone is having a good week! xoxo

I’m moving!! :)

Well, I’m movin’ on up! 🙂

These are all pix I took of my new apartment! It’s a penthouse on the fourth floor. I wanted it SO BAD because it has two balconies! And they are HUGE! One off of the kitchen and the other is off of my bedroom. One entire bedroom wall is practically a sliding glass door.

The balconies were so important because I’ll be able to work outside on the patios AND get lots of sun during the winter. The sun greatly helps my depression, so that is why I wanted this apartment.

If you look at the chart, you’ll see what the average rent is for Park Slope. Almost $2600. This apartment was listed for $2100 and I talked my landlord down to $1850. My “new” landlord is actually the same landlord I have now. I’m moving to the building next door!

Everything is new and no one has lived in it yet. I LOVE that it has a dishwasher and a washer/dryer hookup. No more laundromats!

I can’t wait to get the kitties settled in. I know they are going to love the sunlight too.

I love being on the top floor–I’m the only one–because it will be super quiet.

I will have to make cut backs to accommodate the higher rent AND the fact that I’ll have to pay for heat and hot water. That’s usually included in rent, but I get to control my thermostat in the new place. That’s actually nice.

All of those things–dishwasher, washer/dryer, controlling heat–really make it feel like MINE.

I can start moving stuff in on Weds and my lease officially starts April 1st.

Soooo excited!!!
